International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is recruiting a Finance Assistant for Maputo.

Purpose of Role:

  • The Key responsibilities of this position will be to support the finance team in carrying out the accounting and treasury tasks of the country office, including bank / cash transactions, booking payments, payment expenses, cash book tracking, preparing and maintenance of payroll and general administration , as well as providing support to the Country Management Team in their decision-making.

Major Responsibilities:

  • In charge of field and country office reconciliation of daily, monthly, and annual petty cash and bank transactions;
  • Update financial spreadsheets with daily transactions;
  • Process utilities and contractual agreement invoices and prepare payments in time and in accordance with all financial guidelines;
  • Carry out staff advance payments to INSO employees in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in INSO policies;
  • Monitor open advances and deposits in the balance sheet and recoup aging amounts;
  • Maintain secure filing system in accordance with guidelines;
  • Support the Finance Manager in the provision of the documentation during financial audits;
  • Act as a point of contact of field/country support staff for finance queries and provide financial support to team members;
  • Undertake specific tasks on internal controls, budget planning, proposals, and financial reporting as they have been assigned by the Finance Manager;
  • Assist in enforcing country specific financial requirements such as tax documents, fixed asset register, monthly and annual accounts reports;
  • Prepare all fiscal declarations (IRPS, ISPC, INSS, etc.) for review by HR and Finance Managers;
  • Support Finance Manager to oversee any financial service providers;
  • Perform any other duties at the request of Finance Manager.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • A Degree in finance, account, or relevant field;
  • Excellent English and Portuguese language skills, both written and verbal;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with NGOs;
  • Strong attention to detail, with ability to spot numerical errors;
  • Acceptance and understanding of humanitarian principles;
  • Experience in audit an advantage;
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions);
  • Organizational and time-management skills;
  • Ability to work in high paced and high pressure environment;

Nice to Have:

  • Donor/contract management experience and donor policy knowledge (preferably ECHO, FCDO or BHA);
  • Qualified under Order of Accounts in Mozambique.

Terms and Conditions:

  • 12 months renewable contract subject to funding and performance. Salary based on INSO grading scale.
